  • The Malzhaus is located a few steps away from Johanniskirche (Johannis Church) among beautiful old houses telling centuries of history. It is the perfect example how seamless the past and the present connect in Plauen. The Malzhaus, intended as production facility for malt for the manufacture of beer was built from 1722 to 1730 ontop of the remains of medieval buildings and is the oldest of its kind in existence. Today it is part of Plauen's cultural centers. The basement with Romanesque barrel vaults and cross vaults as well as the gallery which stretches over two floors offers an event spectrum including concerts, lectures, film screenings, exhibitions and many more.
