From June 19th to June 21st the city centre of Plauen will offer a variety of activities and festivities. Live music of all kinds, culinary delights and sportive highlights frame the festive progamme. This city festival is the biggest of its kind and is focused on the name giver: the Plauener Spitze (Plauen Lace).

In August 2020, Plauen is experiencing a new edition of the "SpitzenGenuss" Week. Thanks to the support of many regional partners, there will be once again a large number of lectures, exhibitions and workshops.

September 19th  Award of the e.o.plauen prize

Michael Sowa – e.o.plauen award winner of 2020 This year for the 9th time the city of Plauen and the e.o.plauen association awards the e.o.plauen prize. For the first time the genre painting is honoured. Since the studies of art pedagogy Michael Sowa works as freelance painter and illustrator. He published in the satire magazine “Titanic”, illustrated numerous magazines, books and book covers. 
September – November 29th Folkherbst | Festival of Folk Music
The FolkHerbst held since 1991 in the Plauen Malzhaus is a series of musical events always taking place between the end of September to the end of November. It results in an award ceremony with the only Folk music prize throughout Germany – the „Eiserne Eversteiner“. It owes its name to the founding fathers of Plauen, the earl of Everstein. Patron of this cultural event has always been the mayor of Plauen.

November 13rd to 17th  11. German-German Film Festival “From division to unity”
(Capitol cinema Plauen and Central cinema Hof)
The German-German Film Festival “From division to unity” is a joint project of the partner towns Hof and Plauen. The documentaries and films deal with topics from recent history, for instance the Berlin Wall, the division of Germany, the peaceful revolution, the opening of borders and the German unity. Following there are discussion groups with film directors and contemporary witnesses.

March 7th to 14th  25th European Farmers Market

Europe visits the Vogtland. At the 25th European Farmers Market held in the Biller event hall vendors will offer their products directly to the public. From March 7th to March 14th delicacies will be presented inside the indoor marketplace. Plauen and the Vogtland have been hosting this event annually since the market first took place back in 1996.

For more than 300 years the Plauen Christmas Market has been the pre-Christmas gathering place. Sweet scents, Christmas sounds and a cosy atmosphere invite you to stroll until the 4th Advent. More than 60 festive booths tempt you to shop and enjoy the Christmas season.

The popular Saturday markets will also be held this year. Produce and mainly regional products are offered from 9am to 2pm. The typical market assortment is also featured: handbags, table cloths, baked goods, herbs, teas and spices and lots more. Come and see it for yourself!
